Kirkintilloch & Kilsyth Amateur Swimming Club (KKASC) has achieved an extraordinary feat, surging from British Water Polo League qualifiers to the coveted Division 1 in just four remarkable years!
Following their first attempt in September 2021 to qualify for the British League, their second attempt the following April demonstrated their potential as they decisively won their qualifying games and secured a well-deserved spot in Division 3. Their momentum continued in March 2023, with a strong third-place finish, as the team grew in strength and cohesion. April 2024 marked a pivotal moment. KKASC’s impressive second-place finish in Division 3, coupled with a dominant performance in the promotion matches, which propelled them into Division 2.
Their achievements continued this March, KKASC delivered a stellar season, achieving a remarkable 12 wins and only 2 defeats, securing a well-earned third place and promotion to Division 1. This outstanding record exemplifies the team’s skill, fitness and commitment. “Everyone is buzzing with excitement at KKASC,” said Alan Scobie, Club Development Officer “Our success is a real inspiration to young athletes in our club and in our community.”
“This is a moment of immense pride for everyone involved with KKASC,” he added. “The team’s incredible progress is a result of our hard work, dedication, and the strong bond we share. We’re thrilled to be competing in Division 1 next season and look forward to the challenge ahead.”
Head Coach Nico Fenu, who has been so instrumental in the teams success said, “I’m incredibly proud of this group of girls. We wanted this promotion as a team, and throughout the season, we’ve grown so much in our game. It hasn’t always been easy, we faced challenges, made mistakes, but each time we came back stronger. This is just the beginning for us, and we’re ready to take our water polo to the next level.”

September 2021 – BWPL Qualifier
April 2022 – Successfully qualified for BWPL Division 3
April 2023 – Finished 3rd in BWPL Division 3
April 2024 – Promotion to Division 2
March 2025 – Promotion to Division 1
