Czechia’s senior women’s water polo team delivered a commanding performance in Brno, defeating Scotland 16–7 in a high-paced and physical encounter at the EU Nations Water Polo Cup.

The match opened with a quick strike from Simona Grecová, who found the net just 37 seconds into the first quarter. Scotland responded immediately through Lucy MacNair, leveling the score at 1–1 within the first minute. But Czechia quickly regained control, with goals from Lucie Koubová, Adriana Voláková, and another from Grecová, building a 4–1 lead.

Scotland’s Nicole Morrison narrowed the gap briefly, but Lucie Bakalová closed the quarter with a powerful finish, giving Czechia a 5–2 advantage.

The second quarter saw Czechia extend their lead with goals from Bakalová, Sabina Zdobinská, and Nikola Šintáková. Scotland’s MacNair added her second goal, but Czechia’s depth proved decisive. By halftime, the score stood at 10–3.

Scotland showed resilience in the third quarter, with goals from Molly Meldrum, Chloe Kirkwood, and Eve Kerr, but Czechia’s Grecová responded with her third goal of the match, maintaining momentum.

In the final quarter, Czechia sealed the victory with a penalty goal from Bakalová, followed by strikes from Voláková, Alžběta Holá, and another from Bakalová to bring her total to five goals. Voláková closed the match with a final goal in the dying seconds, ending the game at 16–7.
