BRNO, Czech Republic — Scotland’s women’s water polo team were swept aside by a dominant German performance on Friday, falling 24–6 in the EU Nations.

Germany took control from the outset, scoring within the first minute and maintaining a relentless pace throughout the match. Leading the charge was Jamie-Julique Haas, who delivered a stunning 11-goal performance, leaving Scotland with little room to recover.

Scotland showed early promise, with Chloe Kirkwood converting two penalty shots and Nicole Morrison adding a goal to keep the scoreline competitive in the first quarter. But Germany’s sharp execution and attacking depth saw them pull ahead 6–3 by the end of the opening period.

The second quarter saw Germany extend their lead with a flurry of goals from Haas, Bianca Mitterbauer, and Nele Politze, pushing the score to 13–4 at half-time. Scotland’s defence struggled to contain the wave of attacks, and Germany continued to dominate in the second half.

Kirkwood completed her hat-trick and Cameryn Davidson added a late goal, but Germany remained firmly in control, adding 11 more goals before the final whistle.

Despite the scoreline, Scotland showed moments of resilience and individual quality. Kirkwood’s finishing and Morrison’s early energy were among the positives in an otherwise difficult outing.

Germany’s performance reinforced their status as tournament contenders, while Scotland will look to regroup and refocus ahead of their next match against another very tough opponent, Sweden.
