Scotland’s women’s water polo team claimed a well-deserved victory over the British Hawks, winning 13–10 in a spirited match that secures their place in the 5th/6th place playoff at the EU Nations Championship in Brno.
After a tough group stage, Scotland found their form in this classification match, showing improved cohesion and attacking confidence. The British Hawks, a composite team of players from English clubs, provided a competitive challenge, but Scotland’s team work and finishing power made the difference.
Lucy MacNair led the scoring with five goals, while Chloe Kirkwood added three, including two penalty conversions, taking her tournament tally to 10 goals. Molly Meldrum, Nicole Morrison, Cameryn Davidson, and Eve Kerr also contributed to the scoreboard in a balanced team effort.
Scotland edged ahead in the first half, leading 8–5 at the break. The Hawks fought back in the second half, narrowing the gap to just one goal late in the fourth quarter, but Scotland responded with two clutch goals in the final minute to seal the win.
Scotland will now face their final opponent in the 5th/6th place playoff, aiming to finish the tournament on a high note.
